True Blood Title Sequence Comments

This opening sequence for True Blood is known as a theme based title sequence due to its' focus on the location, setting, character's personality, timeframe etc whereas a character lead title sequence would focus solely on the character and will instantly begin to develop the story. This style of opening sequence is very effective as it displays further knowledge into the programme at the very start rather then having to find out for yourself. The people featured within the sequence and their located surroundings instantly imply that they are of a country origin, typically associated with racist hill billys. This is highlighted by the further use of images of people from the KKK. The strong sexual nature within the opening credits also portrays the programme as quite sexual and the use of religion such as a baptism and church events implies that religion plays a strong role within the characters lives. Overall, from looking at the opening credits we can gather an interpretation of True blood as a programme set in a western American town, where people are very opinionated and have a tendancy to be racist or judgemental. Not only this it implies that there are a lot of secrets unknown within the town due to the frequent use of sexual images within the sequence. The font used throughout is a stenciled white coloured font which stands out amongst the images. It is placed amongst all areas of the screen and attracts attention each time it is shown due to the colour which makes it stand out.
